Tragic Sistahs
| Donniee Barnes, writer/performer, enrichment teacher and founder of Evolução found herself plagued by thoughts of the plight of women around her and around the world who were struggling through life. These women go through a sort of negative metamorphosis, turning into something that seems to separate them from their higher good, their ultimate potential. |
Adding on to her intense interest and study of the psychology of the female
mind; teaching enrichment courses for after-school and community
programs, hosting tea parties for young girls of all ages, performing school
assemblies on bullying and violence prevention across the Tri-State area,
and constantly being in the company of young girls from various back-
grounds made it clear in Donniee’s mind that the struggle of adult women
almost always starts at an early age.
Many young girls are conditioned early on to be their own worst enemies,
getting mixed, confusing and often inappropriate messages from the media,
their peers and even some of the grown-ups in their lives. The result is low
self-esteem, self destructive behavior, a general low opinion of themselves,
all leading to needless and preventable suffering.
Evolução aims to assist all the women and girls that we serve and touch to
experience their own personal evolution…NOW! We've developed
powerful programs and presentations to aid in creating the possibility of a
more empowered and evolved human experience. It's good for the girl, it's
good for the woman, its good for the community, its good for the world!
